Transition to Adulthood Service – Ka Awatea
Ka Awatea is a programme for rangatahi and young adults aged 15 to 21 years, who have previously been in the care of Oranga Tamariki and are based in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Rangatahi or young adults in the Ka Awatea programme will receive mentoring support from their Kai Atawhai anywhere that works for them, such as at their home, workplace, school or a cafe.
You will be partnered with a Kai Atawhai who will mentor you .... they will walk with you and guide you in the things that are important to you: they will listen to and advocate for you.
You can choose to work on training, education and living choices.
You can choose to work on building positive peer groups and trusted support networks of people you can turn to, relate to, and who respect you.
You can choose to receive support to understand your identity and find ways to connect to your culture, your hapu, iwi or other important communities.
You can choose to be provided with help applying for and accessing educational, financial, health and accommodation services, entitlements and contacts.
