Multisystemic Therapy (MST) helps whānau address the multiple causes of challenging and high-risk rangatahi behaviours, with the aim of helping whānau stay safely together.
MST emphasises the positives and uses systemic strengths to help create change.
MST is an intensive support, where whānau will have sessions at a rate that meets their needs and have access to 24/7 support.
The programme usually lasts for approximately 3 – 5 months.
Every whānau is unique, so MST focuses on the individual needs of the whānau: therapists will work with you to understand and develop your goals and help you set boundaries that work for you.
Helping us understand the multiple causes of the behaviours of my tamariki or rangatahi, and what might be helpful.
Helping us to identify and build on the strengths of our whānau and the relationships between us.
Helping us to understand the things that we find difficult and develop ways to make things better.
Helping us to set goals and milestones and work to achieve them.
Helping us develop different ways of seeing and doing things.
Helping us understand how others, such as school, friends and community can help.
We work with rangatahi (aged 11 – 17 years who are living at home) and their whānau in Tāmaki Makaurau.
